Portland, Oregon is a great place to visit (or live) with your dog. The city has over 20 dog parks and many pet-friendly hotels. Several restaurants allow leashed dogs in outdoor dining areas so you don’t have to leave your pooch back in the room. Be sure to check out the Iron Mutt Coffee Company. They have an enclosed outdoor dog run, complimentary water and dog treats for sale – what a great way to enjoy a cup of coffee! The Lucky Labrador Brewing Company has a back covered patio area where you can eat and hang out with both your human and canine friends. Portland also has excellent hiking trails as well as many dog-related events.

Stains, a dog with a sweet tooth, was put to the test on “It’s Me or the Dog.” This is sooo funny!

Several pet foods have been recalled because of the recent peanut butter salmonella contamination. The FDA has a list of specific brands being recalled on their website. Symptoms of salmonella in pets include fever, vomiting, diarrhea, refusing to eat/drink, dehydration, lethargy and stomach gurgling. Less frequent symptoms include swollen eyes, joint stiffness and frequent urination. If you think your dog may have salmonella, visit a vet immediately.
